A group of Christians from West Ankole Diocese on Friday met with the Archibishop of Uganda, Stanely Ntagari, over issues that have created misunderstandings in the diocese. According to a source that attended the meeting and preferred not to be named in the press, the meeting was called by Archibishop Ntagali to try and settle issues between the Bishop Yonah Mwesigwa Katonene and Christians in Sheema District. There has been a stand off in the Diocese between Bishop Katonene and christians in Sheema district, which has brought ugly scenes of blocking Katonene from entering some churches in the district. Sheema Christians accuse Bishop Katonene among other things, of trying to create a branch from not mature Ankole Western University project at Marungi in Bushenyi district. Efforts to reach the Diocesan communications officer, Judas Natamba were futile as he could not pick our calls. But our sources said the issues that people from Sheema presented in the meeting were not discussed as one group seemed not ready, while Archibishop Ntagali had another meeting with the president. Another meeting was scheduled for 21 July, when they will again meet in Kampala. XXXXX
