A group of Hispanic male students from a service fraternity at UW-Whitewater that is dedicated to providing a social and cultural outlet for students of Latin American decent, is working with Hispanic males at our school. Their goal is to uplift the Latino community and to insure that the number of Latinos in education is increasing. They developed a mentoring program to help high school students. They started coming the middle of April and by the end of May will have come six times to work with our kids. They answered questions and gave advice about college, had study night to help our students with homework, did a pot luck to celebrate 5 de mayo, will be playing a soccer game with them at EAHS on 5/19/14, take them on a UW-Whitewater campus tour on 5/22/14, and host another study night before our exams. They will help our students with the process of pursuing higher education, as well as help with the transition from high school to college. This is a partnership we hope to continue in the next school year and in many years to come.
