A group of teenagers pulled up to the pond and I thought "oh great what trouble are they here to make" Instead I noticed they were watching my movements as I fed and talked to the geese. Then after a few minutes the young man asked what I was feeding them. I invited them to come out and join me and I introduced them to the flock. They asked questions and laughed as families nibbled cracked corn from their hands. I believe the flock made some new friends today. I admit I was wrong and stereotyped these teenagers as trouble. I have never been so happy to be wrong. When I left I bid them a good night and thanked them for their kindness to the flock. To see them sitting on the ground surrounded by geese and smiling I have some hope for the future of animals and nature.
