A guy on some rolling stone post offered his condolences on my recent engagement, telling me to trust him that marriage is not good as he was divorced... This is my reply... Im sorry about your divorce Jc I know it is never an easy thing. Maybe your divorce stems from not understanding the purpose or meaning of your vows? Maybe from not remembering to keep romance in your relationship? Maybe from not being willing to have counseling before and after marriage? Maybe you didnt understand how to have healthy conflict? Maybe you hadnt learned healthy budgeting practices? Maybe you got married for the wrong reasons? Maybe you sought the feeling of love as opposed to the choice of love? Maybe you chose a spouse poorly? Maybe one or both of you allowed selfish desires to plague your marriage? I dont know what led to your divorce, but I am choosing to make educated decisions and to pursue a life linked with someone else that will be hard at times, but will be focused on living out our vows and making an active choice to pursue each other and put love above selfish gain. I can guarantee that trust[ing] [you] in an experience that you guys failed to do all you could to keep your vows would be a foolish thing. My condolences to you and your unfortunate view of something that has potential to be the best decision of your life.
