A heated exchange took place between House Oversight Committee - TopicsExpress

A heated exchange took place between House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa and U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md., as Issa adjourned a hearing on the IRS scandal that targeted conservative groups. Former IRS official Lois Lerner was back before the committee Wednesday but again invoked her Fifth Amendment right to refuse to testify. “Mr.Chairman, I have a statement. I have a procedural question, Mr. Chairman,” Cummings said as Issa stood to adjourn. Hey, wait a minute! Gay hairdresser refuses to cut NM governor’s hair and that’s okay? “Mr. Chairman, you cannot run a committee like this,” Cummings added. As he continued speaking, Issa cut his microphone and the two men spoke briefly before Issa sat down and turned Cummings microphone back on. But Cummings was more intent on making a statement than asking a question and Issa’s patience was exhausted. Cummings’ microphone was cut again, but he was committed to seeing this political theater through to the end. “If you will sit down and allow me to ask a question,” Cummings cried as Issa began gathering his belongings to leave. “I am a member of a Congress of the United States of America.” “I am tired of this,” he shouted. “You cannot just have a one-sided investigation. There’s absolutely something wrong with that, and it’s absolutely un-American.” “We had a hearing. It was adjourned,” Issa responded as he was leaving. “I gave you an opportunity to ask your questions. You had no questions.” bizpacreview/2014/03/05/absolutely-un-american-cummings-has-meltdown-as-issa-adjourns-irs-scandal-hearing-and-walks-out-104684
