A highly successful UN General Assembly trip by our PM. I got to meet President and Mrs. Obama on Tuesday at the annual reception. They were most gracious as always. There we also chatted with His Excellency the President of Sri Lanka, His Excellency the President of Turkey, the Honorable Prime Minister of Nepal and her Highness the Queen of Netherlands. Senior officials from US, Russia and UN including Secretary General Ban Ki Moon attended the celebration of Bangladesh’s 40th anniversary at the UN. They all praised Bangladesh and our Awami League Government for all our development work, contribution to global peace and fight against terrorism. It is because of our AL Government that we can hold our head up high on the global stage. জাতিসংঘের সাধারণ পরিষদে আমাদের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর অত্যন্ত সাফল্যমন্ডিত সফর শেষ হলো। বার্ষিক অভ্যর্থনা অনুষ্ঠানে আমি প্রেসিডেন্ট ওবামা এবং মিসেস ওবামার সাক্ষাত পেয়েছিলাম। সব সময়ের মতই তাঁরা ছিলেন অত্যন্ত অমায়িক। আরও যাদের সাথে আমাদের কথা হয়েছে তাঁরা হলেন শ্রীলংকার মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি, তুরস্কের মহামান্য রাষ্ট্রপতি, নেপালের মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী এবং নেদারল্যান্ডসের মহামান্য রাণী। যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, রাশিয়া এবং জাতিসংঘের মহাসচিবসহ তাঁদের উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তারা জাতিসংঘে বাংলাদেশের ৪০তম বার্ষিকীর অনুষ্ঠানে অংশ নিয়েছিলেন। সকলেই বাংলাদেশ এবং আমাদের আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের উন্নয়ন কর্মকান্ড, বিশ্ব শান্তি রক্ষায় ভূমিকা ও সন্ত্রাসের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের ভূয়সী প্রশংসা করেন। এটা শুধু আমাদের আওয়ামী লীগ সরকারের কারণেই সম্ভব হয়েছে যে আমরা বিশ্ব দরবারে মাথা উঁচু করে দাড়িয়েছি।
