A hopefully more spelled-out response to the young mans head I - TopicsExpress

A hopefully more spelled-out response to the young mans head I took off at the coffee shop when he told me the current movement will fail because theres no leadership. In case he reads my FB... Lets remember: It was Mama Till (from Chicago) that sparked the Civil Rights Movement. It was Rosa Parks who had the galls to kick it off. Ella Baker is the reason why the youth have effective strategies for change today. Before both, it was Ida B. Wells (also from Chicago) who worked tirelessly as an anti-lynching activist. A black woman created the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter and gave the current movement an identity and voice. Winnie did just as much for the movement as Mandela and Coretta wasnt just a housewife, she thwarted FBI/CIA spies to keep the movement a step ahead as much as possible. Im always hearing folks say where are the leaders in this current wave of activism. My answer, Theyre here, and always have been here. The problem is not their visibility, but in yours because you refuse to acknowledge a leader with a vagina.
