A huge milestone has been reached today in the history of Whitwell FC!! Our first cup final in only our second season in existence saw us come together as a team saw us come from behind on no less than three occasions to emerge victorious over a highly rated Staveley. Our boys pulled together, showed true fighting spirit and relied upon their ability to play top class counter attacking football to eventually win the game 6-3 after a 2-2 half time shoreline. A crowd of over 100 people saw our boys and girls give their all to pick up the first trophy in the clubs history! To say Im proud of each and every one of them would be an understatement....they have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with on an unbeaten run that has spanned six games!! Well done to all of our players, you deserve the winners medals that were presented today, more of which will surely follow!! Man of the match went to Oliver Baker who looked a constant threat to the Staveley defence, topping the performance off with two good goals. It still hasnt completely sunk in but Im sure the next few days will see some proud faces on the playground!! Well done everyone!! Much love, so proud!!
