A humble appeal: if you celebrate the Ganesh festival, please dont bring any plaster of paris (PoP) idol home. Please go for a clay idol. At the end of the festival, dont immerse the idol in any natural water body such as lakes, rivers or the ocean. Please immerse it at home in a bucket full of water. Itll dissolve in a day; use the water for the plants. The best option would be to get a metal idol & never immerse it at all. If you get bored by the same metal idol year after year, find 5 friends who can install a metal idol every year. Exchange the idols between yourselves, so you get a new idol for the next 5 years. Please dont use thermocol & tungsten bulbs for decoration. Please use LED lighting & recyclable materials. Please gently request the neighborhood public Ganesh festival groups to keep the sound levels low. Please go green, please celebrate responsibly, please be eco-friendly. I know many people who practice it; you can do it too. We dont have any right to pollute through the festival. If we fail to act today, our future generations will suffer. Ganapati Bappa Moraya!!!
