A jubilant crowd at Life Community Church in Jamestown celebrated Mark Walker’s stunning upset victory over Phil Berger Jr. last night in the second Republican primary for the Sixth Congressional District, culminating an acrimonious campaign that many say was ultimately a rejection of insider, hard ball politics. The crowd was excited from the beginning, when the polls closed and returns began to flow in showing Walker with a healthy lead over Berger Jr., the Rockingham County District Attorney and son of the powerful president pro-tempore of the State Senate.
