~A letter from Jeff~ Each morning I would wake up with my usual - TopicsExpress

~A letter from Jeff~ Each morning I would wake up with my usual greeting from my special friend, my golden retriever Jack. Some days it was a paw smacking me in the face (ouch!), some days a dirty shoe or a smelly sock. That was the beauty of Jack. His gave me hundreds of “gifts” throughout his life. Many were objects like my shoe, but more importantly, he gave me the gift of his unconditional love, loyalty, and companionship. This morning, I woke at 4 am and my heart ached for Jack, as he was not there. You see…we do not fully appreciate these little moments of life, these “gifts.” Life is fragile. It can be taken from you in an instant. While he is gone, Jack gave me another “gift” this morning as I lay in bed wishing he was still here. His gift this morning was to remind me to appreciate each moment we are blessed with on this earth, to draw closer to our Lord and Savior, to become a better man each day. As a wise pastor once told me, “We are not exempt from the difficult moments of life; our comfort, however, comes from the fact the Lord walks with us through these moments.” Since I am an educator and coach, I believe negative and hurtful things can occur on Facebook; therefore, I do not participate in this social media. However, my sister communicated to me the outpouring of sympathy and prayers that I have received. Words cannot adequately describe my appreciation for your thoughts and prayers. In honor of Jack’s life, please invest in a pet safety harness. If Jack had been wearing one, I am confident he would still be here. As I have spent the past couple days thinking about my dear Jack, I was reminded of a quote from my favorite author C.S. Lewis. When I woke this morning without the usual “gift” from Jack, I knew… “The act of living is different all through. His absence is like the sky, spread over everything.” “Jack, I will honor you, and I will do my best to ‘not cry because it is over, but rather to smile because it happened.’” Pets are supposed to be restrained in the back of a truck. Here is another good reason to restrain them inside a car. Jack survived the crash, only to be killed when running away from the accident in fear. Jeff Tuckness & Tammy Tuckness-Sedin will be a VOICE for Jack!
