A little brag from BrainCore Ohio courtesy of a parent... Mary Beth started having panic attacks in the fall of her 7th grade school year. They came on with no warning and were very debilitating. Going to school became an endurance test. She would usually not make it through the day without having to go home or she would wake up in the morning with so much anxiety, she could not go to school at all. The panic attacks made her feel like she was dying. We took her to several specialists and made some trips to the emergency room but there was no underlying physical cause for this anxiety and panic attacks. All of her tests came back negative. After missing so much school, we had to home school her the rest of the 7th grade school year. We put her on medication since we were not aware of any other alternatives. We tried a psychiatrist and talk therapy as well, but without medication, she would have a panic attack, so it was a vicious cycle. We didnt like the unwanted side effects of the medication, but felt we had no other options. One of the medication side effects is that it caused her to be in a fog and basically cut off the ends of emotion, so it really caused her to be a very different person. In the fall of her 9th grade year, we took her to the chiropractor and saw the BrainCore info. We started researching neurofeedback and thought it would be worth trying so in conjunction with reducing her medication, we started the therapy. She had a panic attack the first week of reduced medication, but we stayed the course. Right after her third session, Mary Beth said she felt different, almost like she did in 6th grade when she was calm and focused. She still had anxiety, but things were feeling different. A few days after completing her 9th session, she said her anxiety was GONE! She said she thinks about it every now and then (especially at school), but its not there. She only takes 5 mg of medication now and she is the vibrant child that we once knew (not in a fog anymore). We are planning to continue to reduce the medication to zero and finish out the recommended course of BrainCore.
