A little info for folks who think the new JeffCo BoE cannot change the AP History curriculum. Colorado is a “local control” state. Districts can offer what they want as long as they meet minimum requirements to insure possible graduation. The issue for students is if they are taught a curriculum that does not prepare them for the test, whats the point in taking the course? The cost of taking an AP class and test is ~ $200 if you can get the book used. Thats cheap for college credit, but if you dont score at least a 3 (that’s a B for us old-timers), no college credit. We already have a framework for curriculum review so this new proposed extra committee is superfluous and the Board hasnt asked the District to explain how curriculum is reviewed, etc. Here’s the district policy currently in place: boarddocs/co/jeffco/Board.nsf/goto?open&id=D97F3D36D47E31278525733600442305
