A little less positive of an update: Ben has made some steady - TopicsExpress

A little less positive of an update: Ben has made some steady progress- he is now up to 5lbs 5oz from his lowest weight of 4lbs 14.5oz and successfully took two full and two half bottles yesterday, however today we had our first major backwards movement. Starting at around 11pm last night into this evening he has been passing blood with his stools. Because of the potential for serious gastrointestinal problems, he has been placed back on an IV, all feedings have been suspended and he is receiving a precautionary cycle of antibiotics. He has had two positive x-rays so far, showing no major distress and the doctors seem confident that there is little cause for concern but are continuing to monitor him for at least the next 48 hours. Unfortunately this means he is unable to be dressed or fed until they make sure it is nothing serious and that todays scheduled move to the step down unit has been postponed. We are hopeful that this will only be a minor bump in the road and that he will make quick progress once he is cleared again but we would appreciate any positive thoughts. Thank you.
