A little more than three months ago tragedy was averted when The Pongo Fund rescued a dog accidentally left locked inside a truck. That dog was Dutch. And for the half-million of you that followed his story, you know that this accident was something that could have easily happened to any one of us. And together we celebrated when Dutch and his dad Francis were reunited. If you missed the story, here is the link: thepongofund.org/rescuing-dutch/ . Since that day Francis has continued to battle some health issues. The good news is that he got to spend some recovery time lounging around with Dutch. The bad news is that Dutch and Francis are truckers and lounging around is not their favorite way to spend time. How bad was it? Francis said that Dutch was barking at him every single day to get back on the road. Really! Francis finally got the medical clearance he was waiting for to get behind the wheel. And happy days are here again as this trucker team once again does the work they love to do. And today, on a beautiful and sunny fall Thursday, they are once again in Portland. In the very same parking lot where this whole story unfolded months ago. And to celebrate that moment Francis just gave us a call to say hello. And to say thank you to us and to everyone else that took such good care of him and Dutch. And to tell us that he and Dutch are happy and well and still so deeply appreciative to everyone that stepped in to help them when they had nowhere else to turn. And one more thing. Francis said Dutch was particularly excited today. Because he definitely knows that he’s in Portland again. Welcome home, Francis and Dutch. Welcome home! We wish you both safe travels always. Sit. Stay. Eat. Live. thepongofund.org (These wonderful photos by Black Newf Photography)
