A little over ten years ago Bill and I along with family and friends built our house. We did 90% of it ourselves. A house to raise our children and a place for grandchildren to one day come visit if not also live on the property. (Not to boast) There is a 3 acre pond, a pool, a barn with chicken and horses. Plenty of room to ride 4wheelers and a sunrise view over the cow pasture that can only compete with the sunset view over the pond. Not to mention the fun if having cousins a few acres away to share it with. With that being said... How do you leave it? Its been almost 7 months with Bill detailing in AL. The time has come to make the final decisions. AL wants him to decide this week if he will take the job there. The last few months have been a rollercoaster of emotions. Is it a great position? Absolutely ! Bill is over the entire state for city delivery. Thats over 1000 post offices. Knowing that... How do you not take it and come back to Jackson and run only a handful of post offices or take the option to go back to Brandon and running 2. Sounds like a no brainier, right? No with this job in AL Bill is working very long hours and is not really available to the family like we are use to. Most of the time he is on the phone or computer even when he is home. Its a 24/7 type of job. Here in MS it would not be so bad. Is the money worth it? Is it worth giving up your dream place? Leaving Hunter and Chase (yes who are grown) in MS? Is it worth transferring Breck to a new school? Me leaving CHA? He will not be giving up but cutting back dramatically hunting and football time. He has always helped coach our boys. That will not happen with Breck. He will be lucky to make it to the games. Does this make him a bad father? No! But its not what we are use to. Bill has always said that his only goal in life was to be a good dad. A dad that was involved. But, a good dad would also take a position that would allow our family to have things that we cant afford now. So it comes to this...... Take a leap of faith and go for the better retirement package and promotion or stay here with still a good job, and be more available to your family? If he does take the job it will not change the fact that he loves his children and he will be a good dad, just a dad with a different role from what we are use to. Keep in mind that this an opportunity of a life time but you only have one life time to watch your children grow. Thats hard to do at the post office. I will support Bill in whatever he decides to do. If we stay, great. If we go, great. My position on the matter is flexible. I can go with the flow. I dont have to his job everyday. And I do have a job here that allows me to be with my children and if we move I will stay home a while. Please pray that we make the right decision. And be comfortable with it. There are Positives and negatives on both sides.
