A little while ago I read about a young man, a refugee in Indonesia, who was involved in helping set up a learning centre, his deeds are inspiring, and his use of media and communication impressive, so I thought Id get to know him better and see if we could work together on ways to help. Not there on that yet, but here is Khadims latest effort, lets all hope we dont leave people as resourceful as this waiting for too long, we need them here in Australia, making a real difference. For an Asylum Seeker it takes over 15 months to get an interview at UNHCR in Jakarta. The first step in assessing refugee status. After that, the relocation process, if it is successful, can take many years. With the help of an Australian sponsor, some of the refugees and asylum seekers decided to start a learning centre to help continue the education of the children. So far it’s been a great success and has 55 students with 30 more on a waiting list. This short film follows that process.
