A little while ago we asked for your stories. This a great one that came from a couple who have adopted three, yes THREE dogs from DAS. One half of this couple just happens to be Dallas Cowboys #77, Tyron Smith! Heres their story: WE LOVE DAS: Tyron Smith and Leigh Costa We have FIVE dogs, three of them have come from DAS and without them our family would not be complete! In January of 2013, we had only our two oldest dogs (Beauty and Beast) and Tyron convinced me he wanted just ONE more. We had adopted through a rescue group before but wanted to pull straight from DAS this time. Immediately after the season was over, we journeyed to DAS and while he bonded with a little blonde male pup, I was instantly attached to this loud, rambunctious tiny black female pit bull. One of the employees at DAS told us about the 2 for 1 adoption special and convinced us that we could not leave the shelter without either of our new friends. “Romeo” and “Juliet”, we would name them, instantly bonded with their fur brother and sister. Fast forward to December of last year: Tyron and I went to DAS to take some old blankets and towels for the pups in the shelter around Christmas. Of course we had to “look around” while we were there. In the under 12 weeks room, there was a pup that was in pretty rough shape. His nose was all scabbed up with ringworm and his stomach was distended and full of worms. The plan was to nurse him back to health and he would be a gift for my mom. Apparently, we are terrible at fostering because “Georgie” is still with us a year later and isn’t going anywhere! After many health issues, and struggles, he finally plays and enjoys himself like a healthy one-year-old dog should. He underwent a bilateral Triple Pelvic Osteotomy in June and July of this year (he was born with hip dysplasia), which required a lot of money, time and extra care, and we are so grateful to have been able to give him all of those things. I always wonder what would’ve happened to “Georgie” had we not brought those blankets in that day. We always encourage EVERYONE in the market for a new furry family member to check out DAS and everything they have to offer. Without DAS we wouldn’t have the amazing furry family we have today! #realmenadopt #gocowboys #tyronsmith
