A long, but excellent read for parents and those who like - TopicsExpress

A long, but excellent read for parents and those who like righteously judging anothers parenting. Are we protecting our kids against real dangers, or overprotecting against our own irrational fears? A week ago, I was with some friends who told me I need to be vigilant in always watching my kids everywhere because the world is much more dangerous than it used to be. I asked them, which is statistically more probable, for a child to be abducted by a stranger or have a heart attack? Everyone answered abduction. Yet, comparing crime and medical data indicates a child is vastly more likely to have a heart attack. None of them believed this was even possible. What are your thoughts?
