A long day.....thanks to my son an daughter in law...most of the electronic stuff in the office is hooked up. I still need to get a wireless modem. Tamara and I worked hard on getting furniture in place and boxes unpacked, enough at least to see some clients today. But there is so much more to do. It isnt home yet, but it will be when we get totally unpacked and have some things on the walls, some plants accenting some rooms, and can gauge the flow of life within the walls, if you know what I mean. On a sadder note, I received word of my sisters impending death. I will leave tomorrow morning to go be by her side (if she survives the night.) When I texted her daughter (my niece) to tell her I was waiting until morning to make the trip because of the icy roads, she suggested that I text to my sister and she would read it to her mom as I did. So.....I did it. It struck me as entirely strange to be texting my own sister, sending her my thoughts and prayers and realizing it might be the last message she gets from me before she leaves this earth. If your sister (or brother, mother, father, friend or child) were dying and you could not get to them before they died, what would you text them? Of course i told her I loved her...and I tried some lame attempts at humor, like mom and dad loved her best, and I was sorry I had stolen her clothes as a kid to wear when she wasnt home....but that seemed pretty strange also. I guess I was hoping some great, profound words would come pouring out of me to bring her comfort. I guess my words must have meant something, because my niece said she was smiling as she read her my text. Death seems so final for us mere mortals.
