A long time ago, approximately December 1984.. I bought a bunch of Christmas cards and addressed them to the people I worked with, one of them being Craig Spencer. Handed them all out, sat back and basked in the good feeling. Shortly after that, somebody came up to me and said .. you cant give a Christmas card to Spencer, hes Jewish.. I did not know that back then, not sure what to think. Hope he wasnt offended. I am a fallen away Mormon, training to be a Jedi.. religion is an uncomfortable subject matter with me. Some time after that, I brought it up in conversation.. I barely knew him back then and the last thing I wanted to do was offend somebody, even unintentionally, about beliefs or religion. Spencer took it all in good humor like he did most things. Did not bother him at all and would have been mad if I had not given him one. His son Shaun (whose bar mitzvah I went to..) knew all the Yiddish words and ceremonies.. I told him all the Yiddish words I learned through the Dick Van Dyke show. It was not a big deal and never was. Happy Hanukkah to the Spencer Family!
