A lot has been said lately about misreporting of stories in the Middle East, especially concerning Israel. Or not reporting at all when it is not convenient. Here is another example, reported today by AP. The story deals with a terrorist, who finished serving his sentence in the US. He is a Jordanian-born Palestinian, and was sentenced to serve time for placing a bomb on a Pan Am flight from Tokyo to Hawaii. He flew with his family on the flight, which stopped in Tokyo, deplaned after placing the bomb under his seat. The bomb went off and killed a young boy and injured about 10 others. As part of his sentence he was to be deported to a country of his choice (provided they would accept him) and, like the documents used for the flight in the story (and many other examples in his life) he submitted false passports to prove his identity. When he finished his sentence he chose to move to the West Bank (Palestinian Authority) and therefore, needed Israeli approval. But the Israeli authorities refused because of the false passports he used. So, he served time for a crime on a US plane travelling from Japan to Hawaii. What was the headline used by AP? Israel Denied Pan Am Flight 830 Bomber His West Bank Wish, Records Show No. I am not kidding... haaretz/news/middle-east/1.624479
