A lot of people are pushing for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush - TopicsExpress

A lot of people are pushing for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush to throw his hat in the presidential ring. He says he’ll decide by the end of the year, but a new Washington Post/ABC News poll shows he’d face an uphill climb. Thanks to lingering anti-Bush toxicity in the media, nearly half of voters said they “definitely would not vote” for Jeb in 2016. Even though I imagine a lot of them don’t know that much about him personally. He must figure that if it’s going to be a tough race, then he might as well get the obstacles out of the way early. Bush said he wanted it on the record that he hopes to get beyond the harsh political rhetoric about illegal immigration. He said he sees crossing the border illegally as a “different kind of crime.” He called it an “act of love” and commitment to families, to try to find work. He said, “Yes, they broke the law, but its not a felony.” That statement could win him some Hispanic support in 2016. The problem is that first, he has to win the nomination, and that view of illegal immigration isn’t too popular with Republican primary voters. That’s putting it mildly.
