A lot of people connect Saint Patricks Day with drinking, but did you know from 1905 to the 1961 pubs were required to close on Saint Patricks Day in Ireland? In 1905 James OMara introduced a bill that closed bars and pubs on Saint Patricks Day to discourage excessive drinking.
