A lot of you have asked what I think of the Taliban prisoner swap. Part of me is appalled, for the victims of 911 and subsequent wars. Secondarily, as a parent, I understand the anguish of the loved ones of a missing soldier. Given all that, a sitting President of either party typically has extremely capable advisors around him or her. I cant imagine they didnt anticipated reaction to this; although there are cases where leaders and those around them simply miss the boat. All this leaves me wondering what part of this story I dont know. Im pretty sure theres something. If theres not, and the administration wasnt tone deaf to the American public, it appears the White House chose to ignore what Im pretty sure they knew public sentiment would be. And it makes me wonder why.
