A man and a teenage girl have been arrested over alleged intimidation, resist arrest and assault police offences in Bourke today. About 1.30am, Saturday, officers attached to Darling River Local Area Command were called to a home on Tudor Street. On arrival, they attempted to move approximately 40 people away from the front of the home, when a number of people allegedly became aggressive towards them. A 19-year-old man then began to allegedly intimidate and threaten a number of police officers. When police attempted to arrest him, a 16-year-old girl allegedly approached the officers and assaulted them. The pair was arrested at the scene and taken to Bourke Police Station, where the man was charged with intimidate police, disobey lawful direction, resist arrest and assault police occasioning actual bodily harm. He was granted bail, to appear at Bourke Local Court on Thursday 20 March 2014. Similar charges are expected to be laid against the girl. A sergeant at the scene suffered a suspected fractured hand and has since received treatment.
