A man and a woman have been arrested at Elizabeth South after a taxi was stolen at North Adelaide this morning. Just after 6am a taxi driver collected three men and a woman on OConnell Street, North Adelaide. Shortly after the fare started towards Elizabeth, a disturbance broke out in the cab between the occupants and the driver, with the taxi driver stopping and getting out of the car. A man from the group then got in the drivers seat and drove off with the taxi. The taxi driver notified police of the incident and with the assistance of the cabs GPS, the vehicle was tracked to Main North Road at Gepps Cross. The taxi was stopped by police on Fairfield Road at Elizabeth South and a man and a woman, the only two occupants in the cab, were arrested. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Port Pirie was charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle, property damage of the taxi, driving disqualified and drink driving. The passenger, a 30-year-old woman from Evanston was charged with illegal use and property damage.
