A man gets divorced from his wife with whom he has no children. He moves on with his life and meets a new woman who he ends up having a baby with. The man dies in a car accident. Turns out he never changed his beneficiary on his life insurance and 401k so guess who gets the money (hint: its not his child or her mother)...you guessed it, the wicked ex wife. Now, a good financial advisor would have told this gentleman to CHANGE BENEFICIARIES as soon as the decision to split with his wife was made but unfortunately this man did not have someone to remind him, or he didnt listen. Either way, I can imagine hes rolling over in his grave right now. Moral of the story: if you or someone you know has went through a divorce or separation and have not yet changed beneficiary info DO IT NOW!!! This PSA is brought to you by a sad financial advisor that had to break the news to the late mans baby mama that her child will not see one penny of her deceased fathers insurance or retirement.
