A man is in hospital after crashing his car while allegedly street racing at Blacktown. About 4pm yesterday (Saturday 17 August 2013), a white Holden Commodore and green Toyota Lexcen were travelling south on Flushcombe Road. It will be alleged they were exceeding the speed limit and racing each other. At this stage it is believed the 31-year-old male driver of the Holden lost control of the vehicle, and crossed to the other side of the road and hit a power pole. The man was trapped in the vehicle for more than one hour. He was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment to suspected fractures to his wrist and spine. The driver of the other vehicle did not stop. Superintendent Stuart Smith, Commander of Operations, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command said that street racing could easily destroy lives and police will prosecute anyone that partakes. “If these two vehicles were street racing as it appears, then their moment of madness could have led to far more serious consequences. “The lives of innocent people were put at risk by this sheer stupidity. “If caught street racing, police will use the full extent of the law to prosecute. It is not worth it and could destroy many lives. “We are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” said Superintendent Smith. Investigations are continuing.
