A man named Jesus lived in Palestine in he first century A.D. Some - TopicsExpress

A man named Jesus lived in Palestine in he first century A.D. Some modern scholars say that He never really existed. It’s interesting to note that our very calendar is based on the time of His birth. We use the term B.C. to designate years before Christ, and the term A.D. (Anno Domini -Latin for Year of our Lord) to designate years after His birth. Intellectuals debate the evidence, or lack thereof sometimes with tremendous bias toward their own preconceived point of view. The Christian apologist lays out his case and the Atheist historian tears it down. If you read the arguments set forth, you are apt to become confused. “God is not the author of confusion…” 1Corinthians 14:33 “In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.” Psalm 71:1 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.” Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.” 1 Corinthians 1:18-22 (NIV) Jesus Christ is not understood, or proved by intellectual reasoning. We are created in the image of God. “God is a Spirit…” John 4:24 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” 1Corinthians 2:11-12 By the action of God’s Spirit working within our spirit, we realize our sin and our need for a Savior. We recognize that void, that emptiness deep inside of us, that can only be filled by God. We realize that Jesus Christ is God, who became a man. In a unfathomable act of love, He suffered and died in our place, carrying away once and for all the burden of our sins. It becomes apparent to us that He rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, snatching the keys to hell and death. “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?” 1Corinthians 15:55 He is alive forevermore and will one day come to judge the living and the dead. Today Jesus extends to you an invitation to have a personal relationship with Him. Confess that you are a sinner and ask Him to come into your life and become your Lord. Life will not be easier, but Jesus will be with you every step of the way, from this moment forward. He will be your help in time of trouble. He will lead you, guide you, and teach you by His Holy Spirit. All you have to do is step out in faith ,believe in Him, and trust Him. Jesus will never leave you or forsake you.
