A man was hit by a freight train in New Braunfels early this morning, police said. The man, identified as Jo-Anthony Ontiveros by police, was unconscious and injured when police found him, but recovered consciousness while being treated by the New Braunfels Fire Department on the scene and was transported to San Antonio Military Medical Center, police said. Police had no further information on Ontiveros’ injuries as of 12 p.m. Police were called to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks on the 500 block of Live Oak Avenue around 4:19 a.m. in response to a train hitting a pedestrian, police said.
