A man who was allegedly struck by a woman with a saucepan has been charged over the assault inside a unit block near North Sydney last month. About 6.15pm (Wednesday 9 April 2014), the 46-year-old woman was walking home along Blues Street in McMahons Point when she noticed a man following her. She continued onto Dumbarton Street and entered the foyer of her unit block, when the man grabbed her from behind. The woman was carrying a large saucepan and used it to hit the man in the head several times. The man let go and ran from the scene. Police from Harbourside Local Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident and two similar offences. About 4.35pm on Wednesday 9 April 2014 a 23-year-old woman was allegedly followed by a man from Milsons Point Railway Station to a building in Alfred Street where she was able to evade the man by entering a lift. An hour later a 36-year-old woman was allegedly followed by a man, from the street, into a building in Miller Street at North Sydney. The man followed the woman into a lift and she was able to evade him when she entered an office and locked the door. Investigators utilised forensic evidence and CCTV footage while liaising with Mount Druitt Local Area Command. Earlier today police attached to Harbourside Local Area Command attended a home in Brisbane Street at Oxley Park, where they arrested a 23-year-old man. He was taken to St Marys Police Station where he was later charged with stalking (three counts), assault with intent to rob and trespass. The man was refused bail and is expected to appear at Parramatta Bail Court tomorrow (Saturday 24 May 2014).
