A man will appear in court today after allegedly being found in possession of a knife and a homemade explosive device at Griffith yesterday. About 5am, Wednesday 16 April 2014, police were patrolling Coolah Street when they stopped and spoke to a 34-year-old man. He was submitted to a search where police allegedly located a knife and a homemade explosive device. The man was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station while the explosive was secured and rendered safe by officers from the Police Rescue and Bomb Squad. Police also conducted a search warrant at the man’s house where they allegedly located items used to manufacture the home made explosive. He was charged with possession of explosive in a public place, armed with intent to commit indictable offence and possess cutting weapon and refused bail to appear in Griffith Local Court today (Thursday 17 April 2014).
