A man will appear in court today after two people were injured during a home invasion at Mascot this morning. About 1.40am (Monday 11 August 2014), three men, one armed with a sledgehammer, allegedly forced entry into a home on Botany Road and confronted the occupants, making a number of threats. A struggle ensued and the occupants detained one of the men before the two others fled. Police from Botany Bay Local Area Command were called to the home and arrested a 29-year-old man. He was taken to Mascot Police Station. A 42-year-old man suffered stab wounds to his shoulder and a 56-year-old woman suffered head and arm injuries. They were treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Prince of Wales Hospital, both in a stable condition. With the assistance of the Police Dog Unit, police established a perimeter and commenced a search for the two other men, but could not locate them. The 29-year-old man was later charged with aggravated break and enter and assault with intent to rob while in company. He was refused bail and will appear at Waverley Local Court today (Monday 11 August 2014). Anyone who may have information about the whereabouts of the remaining two men involved is urged to come forward. Both men have been described to police only as wearing balaclavas and dark-coloured clothing. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
