A man will face court over alleged break, enter and steal offences near Toronto yesterday. Just before 4am (Sunday 28 December 2014), a 23-year-old man allegedly smashed the window of a home on Excelsior Parade, Carey Bay – about 3km south east of Toronto – and attempted to enter the premises. The man fled the scene when the occupants awoke. A short time later, the man entered a unit on the same street and allegedly took a mobile phone, wallet, cash and personal items, before running from the scene. Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were alerted of the incidents and commenced investigations. Following inquiries, police located and seized a number of items on Fern Valley Way, Cardiff, before locating the 23-year-old on the grounds at John Hunter Hospital, where he was arrested. He was taken to Toronto Police Station, where he was charged with aggravated break and enter, attempt break and enter, and goods in custody. The man was refused bail, to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Monday 29 December 2014).
