A meeting is currently going on as the Police Building Committee has released two reports regarding pricing for either a new police station or renovating the exisitng property. Our reporter Chelsea Vella is there. Here is what we know so far: - The cost of a NEW police building is estimated at $8.8 million. If they were to finish the basement for future growth its $10.6. This is a Class C estimate that doesnt include things like furnishings or architectural fees. Theres going to be additional costs - The Class C estimate to RENOVATE the Colin McGregor Justice building is $9.1 million if the police vacate the building to allow for the renovations to take place. If the renovating was done in phases it would cost $10.2 million. Something that isnt recommended in the report. Phasing would mean trying to renovate while police are in the building. There would be additional costs to these prices as well because its a CLASS C estimate. The $9.1 million cost would also not include the costs of re-locating the police during renovations.
