A memorable trail and play of Bukit Ho Swee Estate ( 53rd Anniversary of the 1961 Bukit Ho Swee Fire during Hari Raya presented by Drama Box Ignorland of its time. Date: July 28 2014 Monday ( public holiday ) ( Sunday-Hari Raya Puasa ) Time: 7:30-9pm walking tour Meeting venue: Kim Seng Community Centre. Fee: Free Tour INTRODUCTION TO OUR GUIDES 1) Sally--Former residents of Kampong Bukit Ho Swee who witnessed the 1961 Great Fire. Former resident of Block 29 ( opposite Kim Seng CC ). 2) Tay Ah Chuan --Former market stall holders and working as a committee member for Beo Crescent Market. 3) Chairman of the Beo Crescent Market ( cant remember her name ) , running a tou huay stall. Resident of Block 54. 4) Mr Yap, a cobbler . Not a resident but had been working in Bukit Ho Swee for many years. SCENE ONE ( Guide--Sally ) Ma Kau Tiong ( former Cantonese Cemetery near Block 22 Havelock Road ). SCENE TWO ( Guide--Sally ) Behind Block 22 Havelock Road. Introduction to Kampong Bukit Ho Swee. SCENE THREE ( Guide- Mr Tay ) Beo Crescent Market . SCENE FOUR ( Guide--lady . Chairman of Beo Crescent ) Tau Huay chwee stall . SCENE FIVE ( Guide --Sally ) Behind a three-storey shophouses . Sally told us this building is more than hundred years old and survived that great fire. She told us its the former Malayan Chinese Association, SCENE SIX ( Guide -Sally ) Carpark near NTUC Show us the gantry where the fire stop there. Used to be a big field where she would fly kite with her sister. SCENE SEVEN ( Guide -Sally ) Bird Corner not far from Beo Crescent Market. A re-enactment scene of a little girl who was trapped in that fire and was burned to death. That little girl thought her sister was trapped in the fire and rushed in and nobody can stop her.from going into that fire. Sally role - she said On paper there are only 4 deaths ......what about her sister?
