EDUCATION:........I know Many people May not like to Hear/Read this.........there is a Terribly high rate of Unemployment in Nigeria and If you are not ready to be self-employed or inherit a Family Business, then You must write Application letters, do aptitude tests and present yourself for Interviews to get a Job in private Companies and government establishment..........When i was in the University, i was told by a group of Senior Colleagues that it is not about CGPA but about acquiring Requisite Knowledge in my course of Study so as to be relevant in the Labour Market.......some other stale students(few in number) told me that CGPA is as important as the course Knowledge.......at least how will the employers know that you possess a degree of Knowledge if you have no Certificate to Buttress or signify that??.........Before i left home for school, i have been told by brothers and well wishers (especially the Job seekers and Working class) that i should go for the best Grades and i should also make sure that i acquire sound Knowledge ........in fact they told me that i should not settle for anything less than a second class Upper............i believe everyone else must have been told the same thing..........Getting to school, some people forgot their own goals in 100level.......but definitely with many reasons(some tenable some untenable) ..........some forget theirs at 200level......and so on........In fact the activities on campus (especially Religious) can be so much that many students may get too carried away.......and sacrifice their academics for Spirituality.........well, nobody argues that belonging to a church or Mosque is not good........it only demands Wisdom........Many engaged in Sports, social activities,business activities, intellectual activities....etc.....in fact many things can take you off books in school...(i also witnessed some).........and some People focused on books only to the extent that they are always on the bottom of Grades.....most likely they are not Brilliant enough for their course of study or have problems with the Foundation of Knowledge (mathematics and English).........we cannot blame students who did not have sound background from Primary and secondary schools.......we should blame the Government and Parents........Most university students that woke up in 300level to meet up with the expectation of the Market maynot be able to meet up because CGPA is an accumulated thing and lapses from 100level will continue to be noticeable.......that actually shouldnot stop you from trying and re-trying....even to the end...........I always tell students to see beyond the boundaries of Campus and always picture themselves as Managers or Technocrats who want to apply the course Knowledge to solving Problems......with that they can study to enjoy all courses. No matter how abstract a course can be....know for sure that it has an impact on your I.Q and can be practically applied...........If you cannot understand some things in the interim.....pls CRAM them......cramming is part of Higher Order Thinking Skills(HOTS) albeit at the lower level.......with time what you have crammed will be making sense to you especially when you need them at higher Level.......The Business of CGPA is a serious business especially when you knw how competitive the Nigerian Labour Market is.....(but not to be gotten with dishonesty and Guile-that will not last)............Study while Others sleep and study while others study......and play and rest at appropriate times.......Understand thyself!.....i end all Reading from 10pm anything beyond that time is a waste .......(that is my sleeping and Flexing time)..........Everybody should know what is right for him or Her.......right before going to the University and during the 100level days......What happens when you have Graduated and You Have less than a second class GRADE that most Companies maynot want?.........Professional Courses like ICAN,ACCA,CITN,CIPM,CIBN...and some in science that i maynot know........or better still you go for Adcanced studies like M.SC or MBA Etc.........the Principle of Life is that NO REGRETS......Regrets dont solve Problems, what solves problems is corrective actions.......I have seen people with PASS but very successful because they never stop increasing in Knowledge......you must not STOP.......stop Reading and start sinking/stinking.....SIMPLE! It applies to everybody regardless of your CLASS or Status........if You are currently in the University and you dont know that GRADES are important please you need a Re-think....... Enjoy Books and the knowledge there-in........that is the only thing that guarantees good grades.........i can recall that the semesters i had my best grades were the semesters that i nursed little Anxiety but just catching Funs with Books......when i began to see myself beyond reading to pass Exams.........# Remember No REGRETS.....you only need to learn from mistakes and find ways of correcting them#
