A most urgent need of prayer ======================== Maybe about 2 or so years ago, a group of ministers in Yorkshire (a rather wet, cold region of north east England) attached to ‘Yorkshire Reformed Ministers’ Fraternal’, set up regular prayer meetings to pray for one thing. It was that God would move powerfully in conversion. The meetings are open to all to pray for this one thing. Why? These people saw that there is a dearth of conversion, regardless of how hard or how faithful people were in ministering the Bible. They saw that prayer is important to that. They also saw their own need and the needs all over the place. It was the Spirit of God alone who could make the bones come to life and breathe in Ezekiel. Only God can send his Holy Spirit. Blessing is linked to a strong consciousness of spiritual need, as Jesus taught: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. (Matthew 5.3-6, NIV) We then come knowing our own poverty of spirit, in need, asking that God will move powerfully. He is our only hope. At the same time, it is acknowledged that it is up to God alone as to how, when and where he will answer prayer. He guarantees: This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him. (1 John 5.14-15 NIV) We ask God to convert people, to bring dead bones to life, to breathe his life into them so they live, to convict them of sin, of God’s righteousness, of his judgement, to cause them to repent and believe in Christ. We can preach, yes, but GOD ALONE can do that lot! How desperately do we need to see that, to pray for that. Pray BOLDLY, as God will answer. We do not know how, when or where God will move. For 2000 years people have prayed. Now, in the desperate days in which we live, how much more do we need to pray for this. The next meeting for prayer is on Saturday 13th July 2013. People get together and pray where-ever. We invite you to make that a day of prayer for God to move. By all means fast if that is right for you. But PRAY that God move deeply and in tremendous power. This need is worldwide, where-ever you are. No matter where you are in the world, THAT PLACE needs this! Sincerely, Every blessing, John and Altaa
