A new, once-monthly night at the Bru, debuting Wednesday night the 10th, we have the hip-hop stylings of Spekulativ Fiktion and MataMatik / The Street Poet with DJ Jus Me. Itll be a great night, scratchin, rappin and spinnin, 9 oclock kick off, see ya there... ;-) SPEKULATIV FIKTION is a Cork based beatmaker and rapper, working in the doomy (and at times experimental) side of hip hop. His material has been described as articulate, compassionate, anarchic... and all very relevant. Live shows are well-defined by their inclusion of untraditional instrumentation and live jams, intertwined with gritty samples and storytelling. Spek has played with the likes of Immortal Technique, Danny Brown, Shabazz Palaces and Ganjasufi, and performed at last years Electric Picnic for the Unscene Music Collective Showcase. He features on 2014s BOSS LEVEL Part Two cypher alongside UK greats, Tenchoo and Genesis Elijah, as well as a host of Irelands top mcs. Deathly Words, his first official ep, was released in 2013 featuring Deviant & Naive Ted, Mikey Fingers and DJ Jus Me. He delivers 90s style Boom Bap in the spirit of Nas, Wu Tang and Mobb Deep, with a uniquely Irish twist. Having recently opened for New York legends Onyx, MataMatik is currently putting the finishing touches on his full length debut, The Street Poet, which features some of Irelands and the UKs top producers and rappers. As well as accompanying Spek and MataMatik on the 1s & 2s, Jus Me will blow minds with his live MPC jams,beat juggling and impressive cuts.
