A new survey from Cats Protection has shown that the most popular feline name in the North West of England is Poppy. It seems to be a lucky name too, this year, as weve not had a single Poppy in care! Other popular names in our region are Charlie, Molly, Oscar and Smudge. We have a Molly in care, shes a shy little girl, still under assessment, and well tell you more about her when shes ready for homing. Weve homed two Charlies this year, and our first homed cat of 2014 was a Smudge! Cats Protection’s ‘Big Cat Name Survey’, which was carried out via the charity’s main Facebook page during September, received over 18,000 responses and showed the huge range of names we give to our feline companions. The most popular name across the whole of the UK was Poppy, with Charlie in second place and Molly coming in third. A number of cats had names related to foods and flowers while some of the more unusual names included Sir Pouncealot, Captain Stripeypants and Baroness Trumpington. Do you have a Poppy, Charlie, Molly, Oscar or Smudge? Tell us about them today. Cats Protection’s Preston currently has thirty cats in care, with a variety of names. cats.org.uk/preston/adopt-a-cat/ To offer a home to any of these cats, please email prestoncatsprotection@gmail
