A nice poem of thanks: Thank you It was a Friday eve in September When Expotel boarded the bus For the Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond And the Lodge on the Loch Next to Luss We were all in the mood for adventure Whilst normally drink’s what we crave But the soft country air And the wind in our hair Made the lot of us want to behave We arrived and our hosts flocked to meet us And plied us with glasses of bubbly Gave us all rooms and suites Some of which came complete With Saunas ...how perfectly lovely There were views of the loch Of mountains and glens And I had the wondrous luck Of a view of some trees An occasionally A view of a swan or a duck Then they crammed us all on to three speedboats To the Inverbeg Inn, at a hurry A place full of charm With chips big as your arm And none of the sauces were curry Then back on the boats And there’s no harm in saying It was dark, It was fast, I was scared They deposited us On the jetty at Luss And we went off to get us prepared For a fine four course meal with oodles of wine A fabulous way to unwind I thought I should toast Our wondrous hostsl But Allister came to my mind* So I gave it a miss We retired to the bar Marshmallows and wine were provided We drank and we laughed We laughed and we drank And slowly our numbers divided And drifted away To their suites and their saunas And drifted away into slumber While the few that remained Efficiently drained Bottles too many to number Until the wee early hours When our staying power Finally drifted away And we went off to grab A swift power nap Before sunshine declared a new day Breakfast was grand And I was impressed With the sausage shaped sausages there That they hadn’t succumbed To the Scots rule of thumb That Sausage is meant to be square So thank you to Sandra And Nigel, the boss And the staff at the Lodge and the Inn And the boatmen who tried To upset our insides And gave us all reason to grin! *Allister’s speech is an Expotel Fam Trip legend.
