A nice shout-out for our Off Line Cabaret from Judy Newmark in the Posts Best Bets -- New Line Theatre, the sharp little troupe that specializes in musicals without schmaltz, has something very close to a repertory company. The same artists perform and design there on show after show. With that in mind, New Line led to Off Line, a company through which New Liners can explore other music and theater projects. Marcy Wiegert and Ryan Foizey — who between them have appeared in something like half a dozen recent New Line shows — have put together this Off Line cabaret, featuring songs from such shows as Avenue Q, Spring Awakening and New Line’s cri de coeur, Hair. Mike Dowdy directs; Justin Smolik is music director.
