A night to remember. All three kids were spending the week with the grandparents and I get the message while leaving the office that Keeton split his chin open at the Woodward pool on Uncle Richard Kirkseys head. I grab some sutures and supplies and head west. Jamie and Suzanne Kee grab suitcases and kids and head east. We meet in Canton (a town of about 1,000 people). Sara Metcalf is on a plane to continuing education, so Keeton gets the second-best suturing parent to fix him up. The gas station in Canton seemed like a logical place to work, so I laid him in the back of the vehicle. Grandad did his best head lock while I got him numb and Grandma held the flashlight and policed the other two kids. Keeton screamed so loud that the local police eventually showed up to see what was going on. I finally got him tied back together and headed home. His prize was nine sutures, a Canton police sticker, and an Orange Fanta. Michael watched in horror wondering why I was hurting his brother and Avery criticized my technique, claiming that I was not a dermatologist and I didnt know what I was doing. The kids got to come home one night early with Dad. Someday, this will be funny.
