A note from Lynne about our 2013 Nicaragua mission: Our annual trip to Nicaragua is just around the corner and we’re working hard to be ready to build a house (at least part way) and make music with the children and youth of Chacraseca. Our California crew is being joined by Max and Julia, two teens from Washington DC. Max has been on two previous trips and has been very involved both as a builder and as a musician. He has learned to play some awesome songs on the marimba. He’s also really into baseball, and he has set up his own non-profit to gather baseball equipment and help support baseball in Chacraseca. He has some pretty amazing visions for the future and the energy to bring them to fruition. Here in Murrieta, Kerry Keester-Wellman has also been making some connections with the local Little League. She has collected 5 cases of equipment. Our only challenge now is figuring out how to get it all to Nicaragua! Four people from Oklahoma will also be a part of our group. One is a college music professor. Another is a professional video journalist and he hopes to be able to document our music program. And, of course, our fearless leader will be Randy Leisey, UCV’s founding minister.
