A number of service medals that were stolen from a Petersham home last month have been returned to the owner’s family. Between Wednesday 15 October and Monday 20 October 2014, a home on Coronation Avenue was broken into. A number of items were stolen, including a number of war medals. Officers attached to Marrickville Local Area Command were informed of the incident and launched an investigation. About 9am yesterday (Saturday 1 November 2014), a family member was at the Coronation Avenue home, when he discovered the medals in the rear courtyard. The medals had been wrapped up and are now being examined by forensic specialists. Police thank the media and members of the public for their assistance with this matter.
