A pale grey backdrop of light, high cloud obscures the sky beyond this morning, across which tenuous shadowy shapes slide over from the west - but these too are light - not serious water carriers, to which the dry rooftops bear witness, and the weather prophets did say it wouldnt last the whole morning - as I watch old sol make a gallant attempt to break through already, succeeding in producing only a pale silvery gleam as yet, but strong enough to augur well for future attempts... Theres an intermittent wind blowing, too, this morning - cool and fresh, if a little damp, which may be the harbinger of the longer range predictions offered last night - talking of temperatures reaching 30 by the end of the week, and humid too! Well see... The wind blows in fits and starts, swaying the topmost branches of the treeline and bending the bushes and shrubs before lapsing back into a soft breeze, then falling back to stasis, before reloading for another blow... But - wonder of wonders - as I write this, a streak of pale morning blue is appearing over the western horizon, slowly edging its way across the sky... itll be with us soon, and Id expect the heat to start building when it does - and maybe all the birds will come out to play then, too - theyre only noticeable by their absence right now, so heres hoping... ;¬}
