A parent needs your help with her 14mo at bedtime. Please provide gentle peaceful advice that’s respectful toward parents, children and each other - free of shame, blame and punishment (no time out, taking toys away, or other punitive measures). We’re not always able to admin these, so we rely on you to keep them peaceful. Thanks! I am having a terrible time putting my little one to bed at night. (Hes 14 months) I was trying not to do the cry-it-out method and used to feed him to sleep. Then I tried instituting a routine and would bathe him, read books, rock/sing, etc before bed. We also tried teething solutions in case its been teething, nightlights, sound machines, lovies, etc, etc. but nothing was working and the process would take me up to two hours to put him to finally get him to sleep! (not all of these were at once, we would add one or two at a time to see if it would work) We finally decided to try cry it out and he screams bloody murder until he vomits. Someone told me to swat him, clean up the vomit, put him back and let him keep crying, but I havent had the heart to try that yet. We also tried co-sleeping but it still takes a long time to get him down, he wakes every few hours, and it was straining the relationship with my hubby. Does any one else have ideas/things that worked for their difficult little ones?? Im exhausted and frustrated and havent slept more than a couple hours at a time since he was born. HELP!
