A parent writes: I have an 8 year old that tires easily. he can run in circles (literal circles, not back & forth) for hours; but ten minutes ( if that) in a store & he is sitting on the floor & not moving for any one till he knows you are putting him in a buggy & he will not be walking. he is happiest if he starts in the buggy - not having to walk. he will make unhappy noises if he has to walk. the problem is he is big for his age and its getting harder to get him in & out of the buggy. he enjoys going shopping (its an outing where he knows exactly what to expect). we try talking about the fact that he needs to walk, but he seems to tune us out when we do, so we dont want to push the subject, we also dont want him to miss out just because he does not have the will to walk the store. we have talked about getting a wheelchair, but his therapist does not like this idea because he CAN walk. Im not sure what to do & would love your thoughts on the subject!
