A perceived enemy is much more powerful than the real one. As Nietzsche said, If an enemy did not exist, it would be necessary to invent one. In the current political climate, media reports of a young Muslim man stabbing two policemen and the young man was shot dead, an Australian Servicemen falsely claimed to have been attacked by two middle eastern Muslim men, Muslim women been harassed and assaulted .... where are we going with this? Are we been forced into a situation where these draconian anti terror laws making us to behave like a bunch of paranoid schizophrenics, afraid of our own shadows that everyone becomes a suspect or certain behaviors considered to be suspicious? This notion of we need to sacrifice certain freedoms so we can be protected and be safe is ridiculous. I have had these experiences in my past life and its not the life I want to live in this country. When Julian Knight massacred those people in Hoddle street or Martin Bryant shot and killed those innocent people in Port Arthur, our collective response was to demand gun control not locking up young Australians men and women who owned a gun. Are we very selective in expressing our outrage, directed at certain religious and ethnic minority of this country? I feel that we are heading towards a slippery slope, laws based not because they are necessary but they are motivated by men with power and racial/ prejudicial overtones. Its time for us to ask the question.. What are we on about and are we going to accept these unwarranted draconian laws that impinges on our freedoms to live as good citizens of this great country of ours.. AUSTRALIA?
